Introducing Old And New Ways Of Sending Messages Across

The Olden or ways  of sending messages across

Human beings all over the world like to talk to one another, they greet one another, tell others what they know and how they feel, they ask questions, they tell others what to do and how to do it,very often, they talk in groups about how to make things work together in their neighbourhood and the community.

When people stayed in their small villages,it was quite easy to do this, they talk to one another face-to-face or sent other people, they could gather together in the village square and talk about what to do,if a chief or an elder had a message for the whole town,he could send the town crier around the whole village to deliver the message.

People in the olden days also used drums to pass messages, some special drum beats stood for war; some showed that the king was passing by or that it was the festival of a god or goddess, over long distances, people also used fires. In some places, people made drawings on cave walls and others could tell what the drawings meant. Later on,man began to write on clay tablets, scrolls and papyrus.

All these were ways of sending messages in the olden days.

New or modern ways of sending messages

However,in modern days, people send messages by writing letters, sending text messages and making telephone calls. These can be sent over longer distances than drum beats or fires. The postal and telephone systems have made these possible.

With the radio and television,it is easy to send messages to large group of people living in very distant places at the same time. When we use the radio,we hear only the words but when we watch the television,we can also see pictures of the events.

Very often,we feel that we are actually there. In the past few years, there has been rapid development in the ways people send messages. Examples of such improvements are fax and e-mail. With the fax, messages which are passed through telegraphic system are recorded in written form at the other end.

The e-mail allows people living in different towns, countries and continents to type out and read messages on a personal computer. Newspapers and magazines are also an important way of sending information. Events which happen all over the world are reported in these papers and people can read about them.

All the time, scientists are working on ways of making it easier, cheaper and faster to send messages than before.
